Question
What Minecraft servers do your support?
We support Official Minecraft, Bukkit & Canary Minecraft servers. Both Official & Bukkit have native support, simply enable query support by setting query-enable=true
in server.properties
, see our Setup Guide for more details.
Question
What is Multiplay (Quick Setup)?
If your Minecraft server is hosted with Multiplay Game Servers then you don't need to enter any of the complicated details about your server, simply login with your Multiplay Account, select quick setup and choose your server from the list :)
Question
What's the difference between BBCode & HTML?
Most forums don't support user HTML (the language webpages is written in) instead they use a cutdown and simplified markup call BBCode so if your using your banner as a signature on a forum, you'll most likely want BBCode. The alternative option (HTML) can be used directly in pages on your clan website, where BBCode is not supported.
Question
Can I use my existing Multiplay Account?
In a word Yes! All Multiplay Accounts be they Events or Forums accounts all work with Minecraft Viewer, so simply login with your email and password and away you go.
Question
My server's called "Unknown Server" how do I change it?
- Edit your servers main config file
server.properties
which can be found in your servers base folder / directory - Change the value of
server-name
ormotd
to what you want to call your server e.g.server-name=Steves Cool Server
- Save your changes to
server.properties
- Restart your server your server to pickup the changes
Question
Do I need to open any ports on my firewall to make MinecraftViewer work?
MinecraftViewer uses the same port as your server, but its UDP instead of TCP, so you need to ensure that UDP for the port your server runs on is also open / forwarded. This can be checked in the server console or server.log e.g.13:04:53 [INFO] [MinecraftViewer] Query running on 0.0.0.0:25575
In the above console log the number after the colon, in this case
25575
, is the port you need.
Question
I've installed the Bukkit plugin but it doesn't work
The bukkit plugin is no longer needed, simple set query-enable=true
in server.properties
Question
I've enabled query support but it doesn't work
- If your running the server at home and not using dedicated hosting such as Multiplay Game Servers, the problem is likely to be either NAT or your Firewall (see: FAQ: ports used) is preventing Minecraft Viewer talking to your server. The best solution is to use a dedicated hosting provider to host your server as they will perform better and not have this problem
Question
I've installed the Canary plugin but it doesn't work
This can be caused by a few things:
- Does your plugins line of your
server.properties
file contain MinecraftViewer, if not make sure it does as detailed on the Get the Plugin page - Check your running the latest recommended Canary build which can be found on the Official CanaryMod Site
